A glorious sunny weekend. Hardly knew what the sun looked like anymore after the wettest and coldest August in the past 100 years (so the weatherman told us), but then that's probably to compensate for the hottest and driest June and July we had in a long time.
Went for a walk in the country yesterday which was very peaceful, not like today's walk by the lake with crowds everywhere, but fortunately we know a few less frequented spots and then spent a nice hour by the lake after all.
The forecast for the next few days is not too bad either, but I won't be able to make use of it as it's off to hospital on Tuesday morning. (Will have to get up at 3.30 am :(.)
I will be operated some time during the morning, but don't know yet exactly when. :behindsofa:

If all goes well I may be back home on Wednesday already but still certified ill at home for at least the rest of the week. The results won't be out until in two weeks' time though. Fingers crossed all will be well, and I will be back on here soon.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow Sybille and hoping that all goes well, both with the op and with the results.

We are off to my sister-in-law's mother's funeral this afternoon. It would have been my parents' 69th wedding anniversary today so it will be a difficult day all round for my Mum.

It has been a lovely weekend weatherwise here too, although it got very windy later on yesterday and is still blowing hard this morning. Fine and dry though and quite warm. Your weather in Germany has been just like ours in the UK - hot and sunny June/July and a complete washout in August. We have been noticing that the leaves on some trees are beginning to take on their autumn tints now which seems rather early, especially considering the late spring we had, and the nights are definitely drawing in. Last night it was fully dark by 8.30 even though it had been sunny all day.

Still dark here now and absolutely bucketing down! We couldn't even get the dogs to the beach and yesterday wasn't much better although we did get the girls out in the afternoon. However the previous few days were wonderful. Do hope it bucks up again as more friends arriving tomorrow who haven't visited us in PZ before so would like them to see it in the sunshine and we have the Minack on thursday evening for my friend's birthday ~ not a lot we can do so will have to grin and bear it.
We called at Camilla House this morning Kath as Jane was looking for 2 rooms for next week as she wont have moved into her new home by then but most places are full. We managed to find one room in Sea Waves on the front and Jane will stay with us.

All the very best Sybille for your op and the results, hope all goes well and you're back home very soon.

Sybille will be thinking of you tomorrow and wishing you very best Ambrose Wishes........I do hope all will go well for you and you will soon recover.

Weather here yesterday was pretty good, I did a fair bit at the allotment, mainly weeding and I will cover the cleared beds for the winter. Will probably give the plot up at the end of this year as I am hardly here and we haven't grown nearly as much as we usually do, so it seems unfair when there is a long queue of people waiting who would make better use of the plot. All we really did this year was pick the fruit and make jam and chutney with it. Still worthwhile for that alone but non the less I have felt bad that the other crops didn't get sown.

Glad all seems to be working out for your friend Jane re her move........it will all come together for her in no time, not like us........we had a viewing on Sat. but they seem to bring the wrong people.......the couple had a baby girl and as I've said before although this bungalow is on a large plot a lot of it forms the front garden so the back garden is small in comparison. But we do have a brand new and wondrfully equipped childrens park just through the walkway opposite, and the good thing is we don't have any of the noise associated with a play area.........so far no feed back from them and I am sure if they were interested they would have been on the phone to the agent this morning. Not sure what to do next to tell the truth.

I hope your day goes as well as these occasions can tomorrow Kath.......it will be sad for your Mum.....a nice cup of tea shared will help her enormously though I'm sure. Sad days, happy days, they make up our lives.

Thanks so much for all your good wishes.

I'm trying not to think too much about tomorrow by browsing the forum, but will have to be off in a minute for my last meal before the operation.
Will make it an early night then as I have to get up at 3.30 am, although I don't think I will get much sleep really.

Another glorious day weatherwise here today, but according to the new forecast this good weather is not going to last, and we are in for quite a bit of rain tomorrow.
Hope the weather will be good for our friends' wedding at Canterbury this coming weekend as they will have a big garden party.

Off now and hope to be on here again soon.

A beautiful day Saturday, rainy yesterday and then a glorious dawn and red sky this morning. You know what that means though and yes as the day went on the wetter it got. I was going to go out in the garden after I had done all of my work but it was too wet. had to go on the exercise bike instead because I need to have a bit of a diet after the holidays :(

Hope that tomorrow goes well Sybille!

It stayed fine, dry and fairly sunny for most of the day here, but I think the wet weather from down south has made its way up to us now because it is truly foul out there - extremely windy and very wet indeed, but at least it's supposed to clear us by breakfast time tomorrow, so if we have to have it, then overnight is best. Keep having to go out and rescue my green recycling box which was emptied yesterday so it's fairly light right now. Trying to find some largish stones to weight it down in the pouring rain is not my idea of fun at 10pm!!

Do you sometimes wonder if anyone ever listens to you nowadays? Mum's television has finally given up the ghost so I phoned Tesco Direct on Friday night to order her a new one. A very pleasant young man told me that it would be delivered to her house today. I said, no please make the delivery on Tuesday because we shall be at a funeral on Monday, and he duly made a note of my request. So what happens? We arrived home from the funeral late this afternoon to find a card through Mum's door saying that they had tried to deliver the TV today!!! After a phone call to an automated line where you spend five minutes pressing first this button, then that button, we were told that delivery has been re-arranged for tomorrow. What a complete waste of their driver's time.

Sounds quite typical Kath, hope the new TV turns up tomorrow. Also hope the funeral went as well as these occasions can. It's 6 years ago today since one of my school friends lost her husband just before his 60th birthday ~ can't believe it's that long ago and he was so looking forward to retirement. Another friend's brother (in his early 60s) has been given 3 months to live and her son is about to have his 4th brain operation. Think we all, up to a point, have to live for today.
