Well all you forum members have been busy I have 315 new posts to catch up on so that will keep me busy for a while.

We got home from Northumberland yesterday and I was back to work this morning (yawn).

A big thankyou to everyone who suggested places to go especially Kath and Gill.
We went to Cragside House and gardens well worth a visit. Lovely house and gardens so big a lot of it can be driven round.
Wed. We went to Dunstanburgh castle and Seahouses.
Thurs. Seahouses again hoping to go to Farne Islands but sea was to rough so we went to Alnwick castle and gardens.
Fri. Seahouses again but this time we did get over to the Farne Islands and I saw my first puffins and we were lucky as they were expecting them to leave at the weekend.
Sat. We went to Kielder water and forest. We took our bikes and somehow got round the whole 26miles. I say somehow as we biked the straight and downhill bits and walked all the uphill bits! (and were still exhausted at the end)
Sun We walked some of Hadrians wall
Mon. Bamburgh castle and then visited daves brother who lives in Newcastle.
Tues. We had an amazing drive through the Cheviots. Wonderful scenery - single track road with sheep everywhere lovely. Only trouble is it made me think I would like to go back to Scotland next year!
Then we went to Wallington house gardens. House not open today!

Oh and lots of places inbetween.

Weds Home and back to work today thurs joy of joys -not.

Thanks again to all for the suggestions you helped make our holiday a happy stay in Northumberland. Just a shame the sun didnt show itself much but it was dry so ok just cloudy.

Glad you had such an enjoyable holiday Mary even without much sunshine. Northumberland is somewhere I would like to visit one day. I remember reading pony books in my youth which were situated in Seahouses and Dunstanburgh and they both sounded really great places.

Glad you had such a good time, there are some lovely places in this country of ours for sure. It's always hard to get back into the everyday swing of things once it's all over though.

A good holiday and certainly a place to go back to! You both have covered some ground while up there in Northumberland. Such a lovely part of the country. The coast around Bamburgh is such a peaceful haven. After reading your post Dave and Mary I feel the need to go back again myself!

Glad you enjoyed yourselves so much, Mary and that you managed to visit some of the places Gill and I suggested. Also pleased that you got to see a puffin, on the trip to the Farne Islands was where I saw them too. It really is a lovely and peaceful area up there, isn't it, hard to believe the busy A1M passes so near to it all. I'd love to go back up there sometime.

Yes, I love Northumberland too, even more so 'cause I don't have to go through London to get there but just get a train going north from here. Have visited quite a few of the places listed above, but not yet seen puffins. One day!
