Been at Buxton Carnival today watching Claire singing on the bandstand with Heartbeat UK in the Pavilion Gardens, in between dodging some torrential downpours of rain. Elizabeth and I had planned to watch the Carnival procession and see the well dressings too, but she was official photographer for the Chorus today so we stayed around the Gardens all the time. They attracted a huge crowd who seemed to thoroughly enjoy their performance so they came off "stage" well pleased.

I see that the forecast is for summer to return early next week which is good. My plants have really appreciated the rain of the last few days, but enough is enough now! I am ready for a return to the sunshine again, have got out of the habit of wearing a jacket or cagoule when I go out.

The sneaky Derbyshire Police decided to have a field day with passing motorists in our area today, presumably because they knew so many folk would be flooding into Buxton for the Carnival and the Festival events. On an 8 mile stretch of road we passed no less than three police camera vans! Fortunately Elizabeth was well within the speed limit near all of them but I'm willing to bet they have caught out a good number of motorists today. Wouldn't mind so much but only one of the places they had stationed themselves is an accident blackspot, the others are perfectly innocuous straight stretches of hazard free road.

Well done to Elizabeth for not getting caught in a speed trap! They just seem to be very sneaky especially when on a road that is quite safe. I'm sure I'll get caught one day doing 32mph in a 30 limit. In some areas you seem to spend more time looking at your speedo than the road just in case you creep over the limit.

Glad you all had such a good day between the downpours. We've spent it in the garden catching up ~ no rain today just lovely sunshine which seems to have brought the wasps out. It took me over an hour to do all the deadheading after the heavy rain we've had recently but everything is loooking good and flowering well, ii's lovely to see it all.
