After another hot day we had another thunderstorm tonight. The sky looked quite threatening, and it became quite stormy for a while, too, but afterwards we were rewarded with beautiful colours in the sky. Have posted a few pictures in my album.

We had a thunderstorm last night too, Sybille, with a beautiful rainbow until the heavy rain clouds blotted it out. We lost our television coverage for a while too as heavy rain tends to upset our Sky dish but fortunately the storm had ended and we had the picture back again by 9pm so that we could watch Dragon's Den on BBC2. First programme in a new series and both girls and I are addicted to it.
Am off to look at your photos of your storm now. By the time Elizabeth had got her camera ready our rainbow had unfortunately disappeared into the rain clouds.

we had the most incredible rainbow on Monday I think...and I havent downloaded it yet...it was a double all the way from one side to the other and the sky was a rosy/pinky hue which gave a very strange look to everything.

We had a friend staying and we wanted to go to Porthcurno beach before the dogs have to be off by 8am this morning. Bryan kept saying it would be pouring with rain and the sand would be flying into our eyes so wouldn't go. Luckily we took no notice of him and the 2 of us went ~ it was wonderful. No rain, no sand blowing and the tide almost at high water with lots of rough waves and best of all there was a seal with its head above the waves watching us watching him/her. It was there for over half an hour and seemed to be enjoying the surfing! There were 7 small tents nestled into the rocks but no sign of the occupants even with all 4 dogs barking at the seagulls and just for the joy of living.
There was a funny report on Radio Cornwall about Porth beach near Newquay where a man was sitting in his Rover car watching the waves ( you can park on the beach apparantly) while the sea lapped around the car. Some people went down to tell him and he picked up his luggage and walked away not seeming concerned that he'd left his car behind ~ it takes all sorts................

We were so happy to see the rain thundering down last night, the first good amount for weeks.
Been to the National Stud at Newmarket today. Tours are by bus stopping off at different points but there were only 3 foals left and the 5 stallions are all over the world at the moment. They are back in December, hopefully fit for duty. The top stud fee at present is £65,000 each serving.
Preparations are underway for a pop concert by Mick Hucknell and Simply Red over the weekend in the grounds. So far 21,000 tickets have been sold. Glad I don't live nearby, after our own local rave recently.
