We now have a cold and gloomy day in Penzance, 4c overnight, so we've joined the rest of you with the chilly weather. Instead of having the doors of the lounge open in the evening we were using the gas fire. Yesterday lunchtime we had very heavy rain for a couple of hours too. I'm just glad all our April visitors have gone home having enjoyed such wonderful sunshine and warmth.

It's Helston Flora Day too but at least it's dry so the exertions will probably keep the dancers warm enough but not so much fun for the spectators.

Enjoy your weekend wherever you all are.

Oh dear, Jane, and I was thinking we could send our swifts over to Cornwall.
At least you didn't have any snow. We haven't had any either where we are, but in the more hilly areas just 50 miles from here, they have had several inches of snow.
Snow in May in our reaches - never experienced this here before. Funny thing is we were all sweating here at 29 degr. only last week.

I said to Eddie earlier how miserable the weather is.......when will it ever pick up? The white lilac will be open soon and I know for sure it will soon be 'rusty' with being rained on, happens every year. The perfume in our garden is lovely when these trees are out, but you can't enjoy it when it's too wet to venture out there.

Well we are having a most gorgeous day with blue skies, no clouds, and warm! Have been out backpack weed spraying and Jeff has been cutting down the rushes with the tractor...we are expecting it to be like this tomorrow...its rare for here and I am wallowing in it! Sorry folks.......
I had a lilac tree Gloria but it wasn't a white one...still I did love it and it did smell lovely....

Don't be sorry Linda ~ just enjoy it while you have the sunshine!!!!!!!!! Long may it last. I have 2 sets of friends who are off to Scotland in 10 days time so home you keep your good weather for them. One couple are going by train to Aviemore and the other by coach all the way to the Orkneys (& boat of course where they stay on board for a couple of nights)

Enjoy the glorious weather while you have it Linda. A bonus and I hope it will continue. We down in the south are wet and cold. A least the garden is getting plenty of water today ~ no watering cans tonight! Disappointing too as this week is Norwich Musical Festival with musicians playing on the streets in the city today with a firework display at 10.30 tonight! I think we will stay indoors warm & dry!

Wonder if Gary is out there singing on the streets!!

Sorry to hear that it is wet and cold for you in Norwich, Gill. It's cold and overcast here too, but at least it hasn't rained. We had heavy rain at bedtime last night, maybe that has now made its way over to you. Glad you are enjoying some warm sunshine Linda. May so far has been a big disappointment here, especially after the lovely warm sun we enjoyed last month, and the bluebells are only just starting to come out now. Mum has a gorgeous bright pink azalea though in her garden which is a blaze of colour right now, really stands out in the dull light.

Sorry to hear it's still so cold and dreary over there (except for sunny Arran - enjoy it Linda) There seems to be some correlation between the weather behaviour in the two hemispheres because it has been so dry here. Our duckpond over the road has been bone dry for about five months and all the wildlife has moved to a big swamp closer to town (formally known as 'The Big Swamp'- we're an imaginative bunch in Bunbury). It would be nice if you could send some of your rain, everyone.
