Hallelujah, it's Oliver Land day and it is sunny and dry so hopefully lots of photo opportunities today. Only taken a few so far as PZ in the pouring rain and mist is not that appealing! Just had breakfast so thought I would have a quick peek on here before going off to meet Jane. Ambrose Rock wishes will be made for you all, and Linda I will phone you from Oliver Land.

Just had a phone call from Gary from Oliver Land. He was standing by the Ambrose Rock together with Gloria and Jane, and I had a few words with them, too. Gloria had the lovely idea to place Gary's mobile on the Ambrose Rock for a few seconds so that I could make a wish. So wasn't that a great idea! Thus I was there in a way, too. Thanks so much.

Linda, Kath will be on here soon I'm sure with her apologies as she left her phone in her handbag in my car!!!!!!! She's been worrying about not phoning you all afternoon. It was certainly lovely weather for Oliver Land so that was great. It was lovely to speak with you Sybille.
I'll try and put my photos on shortly. Kath and I went to Sennen after lunch at The Wink and as we were walking past the Lifeboat Station a car pulled up and was abandoned by the roadside while the owner rushed inside on a shout. So luckily for us but not for whoever needed rescuing, we saw the lifeboat launched down the new ramp and speed away in the direction of Lands End.
We had a lovely tea at The Pottery and Nancy arrived too so lots of chatting.

It was lovely to speak to you, too, Jane, and how great to discover you have already posted more pictures. Thank you so much.
Seems you all had a really lovely day. Hope the weather will stay nice for the Ancient Sites walk tomorrow.

I'm not going on the walk tomorrow so I'm afraid there wont be any photos from me of that. I'm sure Kath and others will post theirs as soon as they get home. Having walked today I don't want to risk having a problem with my hip as I'm going with a friend to The Scillies in April and I need to be ok for then. I also have a friend arriving tomorrow at lunchtime.
Hopefully the weather will be ok for the walk tomorrow as it sounds really interesting. We were just so lucky today with the sunshine.

What sort of a dummy am I? I decided I couldn't be bothered carrying my bag all the way out there so stuck my camera in my pocket and was halfway to Carn Barges when I suddenly thought "oh no, I've left my phone in the car, how am I going to phone Linda now" Several kind people offered me the use of theirs, but of course I couldn't remember Linda's number, so I was sitting all on my own at Ambrose Rock enjoying the peace and quiet, but also thinking "I should be speaking to Linda now".
Anyway if you are definitely coming yourself next year, Linda, we can be at Ambrose Rock together in person instead of across the miles.
Enjoyed our chat later when I was back at the hotel.
Too tired now to post much about the Oliver Land trip, except to say that we were blessed with lovely weather and it was as wonderful as always.
More to follow probably when I get home as tomorrow evening I shall have to pack - sob, sob.

Glad that you had a good trip to Oliverland Jane and I am really pleased that the weather was good. I would love to see the Sennen Lifeboat being launched. I think we saw it on the afternoon that we spent on Porthcurno Beach (the same day that we met you at Trengwainton). What looked like a lifeboat sailed past and I guess it would have been the Sennen one around there. Look forward to seeing your photos.
I was thinking of everyone at Oliverland because as I have already said I have been reading The Ambrose Rock. I finished it last night (good timing knowing that you would all be there this morning) and I have a much better understanding of what Oliverland meant to Derek and Jeannie now and their wishes for how it would be a place of solitude (and their definition of what that solitude is). Cant wait to visit again in August!

Sorry, our posts crossed Kath! Glad that you had a good time as well! Its always a wrench leaving Cornwall but you will be taking away happy memories. You always have the Chronicles (and the forum!) to take you back to Oliverland and Minack whenever you choose. Hope that you have a good day tomorrow and that you are not too sad leaving Cornwall. I am going to look forward to hearing about it all and seeing your photographs.
Safe journey,
Adrian
