Talk about sunshine and showers! VERY heavy rain last night and very heavy showers this morning. Still 10c overnight though.

Just back from walking the dogs on Sennen beach which was looking glorious with wonderful waves. We were with a friend and her 2 dogs and just as we got there and had the dogs out of the vehicles, the heavens opened so we all had to take shelter under the canopy of the Surf Shop. We were lucky as it didn't take long for the shower to go over and managed our walk in the dry. There was one lone surfer who managed to stand up on the board but only briefly before dropping below the waves.

Off shortly for lunch at The Minack Theatre cafe before viewing a couple of properties with said friend. She's just changed her Land Rover for a Range Rover so I wont need her 90 yr old Mother's stool to help me get in!!!!!!!!!! Should still get a good view over the hedges though.

Hopefully you all have the sun shining on you now or at least in daytime Barbara and Brenda...............:rain::rapture::wave::dance3:

Sounds a real weather mixture Jane. Still hearing about dogs, beach and surfers somehow makes it sound more than bearable.

Hope the viewing was good and the property came up to expectations.

No sunshine in my life today. Lots of rain overnight and, this morning, the temperature is 1C and we have more rain, which is hovering on the edge of turning into snow. It's very, very dark, just like a nasty November day. Brrrr! And yuck. Once the weather gets like this, I almost welcome the arrival of the first snow so that the world is brightened up again.

Your walk on the beach, Jane, sounded just loverly!

I could have done with that walk on Sennen beach this morning, Jane to blow away my cobwebs! I was up until 3.00am this morning watching Claire and her quartet in Nashville so am now totally shattered! Early to bed for me tonight methinks. They did brilliantly, came 33rd overall which disappointed me, thought they were better than that, but they sang as well as I have ever heard them, so can't ask for more than that, and more to the point they thoroughly enjoyed themselves too.

Had to laugh about the "granny step" to get you into your friend's Land Rover. I have the same problem with Claire's Honda CRV and my brother's Amazon! Getting in isn't the biggest problem, getting out is more of a hazard. I end up doing a very undignified slide out and crash landing!!

No rain here either overnight or today so far, just dull and grey. Can't believe we have to put the clocks back on Saturday night, I hate the long dark evenings.

There you are, Kath! When I posted my note about our weather, I was looking to see if you'd put anything on about Claire's competition. I must have been just ahead of you. Congratulations to Claire, and you: Get some sleep!!

The weather is lovely here at the moment. It tends to start off a bit overcast early in the day but then clear blue skies. I'm making sure I water the pot plants and the vegie patch regularly...average daily temps in the low 20's at the moment.
I'm glad to hear that Claire and her group sang well, Kath. It does take it out of you, though being up during the night when you're not used to it...hope you enjoy your sleep tonight.

Well here is hoping for a bit of fine weather and the forecast doesnt look too bad. I am just packing and then after school tomorrow (which I know will be the longest day ever!) I will drive home where Rachel's Mum and Dad's car will be all packed with everyone waiting to make our way to Cornwall. I am so ready for a break and I know that the fresh air, sea and scenery will do me the world of good. Will think of you all when we make our visit to Oliverland (probably on Tuesday) and I am sure I will be back on here telling you all about our trip on Wednesday or Thursday.

Enjoy your holiday Rachel and Adrian. Todays weather improved and was lovely and sunny this afternoon. Brilliant waves at Lamorna and Porthcurno with quite a few surfers trying their luck.

Now Kath has pointed out to me where The Magazine is I think it's an amazing place. Wonder how Steve is getting on?

Kath, so glad Claire has enjoyed her time in Nashville. I'd assumed it was this evening you would have been watching her perform as it was thursday but I obviously got confused with the US timings. Hope you and Elizabeth have recovered from you late night now! You'll be looking forward to her return now to get the low down first hand.

Thanks both. I hope that there are some big waves! Look out for us Jane, there arent many Rupert's around so if you hear one being called then its probably us. That would be funny wouldnt it! Rachel is frightened that I am going to wear her Mum and Dad out. We are planning a trip to Trerice on Saturday (and then Bedruthan Steps). On Sunday I think we are going to St Ives, possibly Geevor and then a walk at Botallack. Its actually Monday that I have suggested for Oliverland and then we may pay a visit to Cape Cornwall. On Tuesday it may be the Lizard and possibly a trip up the lighthouse for Rupert. Its awful that it is so planned but that is what has got me the last week or two at school!!! I think we will try and cram in a few of our other favourite locations as well.

I love viewing property Linda so I'll be sad when my friend has bought somewhere! Yesterday we viewed 2 places for a second time and I think she's decided on one but of course it now depends on if they accept her offer and when the vendors find their new property. A different bungalow we saw at St Levan was awful. It was being used as a holiday let but smelt damp and was really tacky with the sea view just visible if you stood on something high in a particular spot in the garden but knowing where it was we didn't expect the sea "view" to exist really. It still amazes me how different a lot of the places look in reality to the Agent's blurb, especially the setting.

Hope Rupert has grown the little bit he needed to go up the lighthouse this time.

Have a great time Adrian, Rupert and Rachel.

And Steve if you're reading this - let us know how things are with you.

Well done Tone-Acity......competition is often based on opinion and perception which makes it difficult to understand how certain decisions are arrived at, but to have earned a place at such a prestigious event and been placed is pretty darn good I'd say. Bet they are having a wonderful time and Good Luck to Them. :fans:

Judging from Claire's comments on Facebook and the text messages I have had from her, they are having an absolute ball over there. She says the feedback they have had from other competitors and audience has been overwhelming, and even if they never make it to International again, this has been the experience of a lifetime for them.

Kath, thats terrific..Claire will never forget it...but it may be in teh blood now...so more competitions hopefully...what about Asia...Japan.... :cheer2:

Jane, even if your friend does find something there's nothign stoppig you viewing houses....my friend and I used to do it a lot ...when I visited her in Cumbria...I love viewing places....as to the blurb in Estate Agents tell me about it...its a licence to lie! totally and utterly against any kind of advertising standards I am sure......and views? well I guess the agents must set up some picture in front and then photograph that because the views leave your mind boggling at how/what they achieved them!

I love doing my own interpretation of estate agents' blurb eg. "bijou residence" = size of a shoe box; "oblique glimpses of the sea" = if you have a neck like a giraffe and put your life at risk by hanging way out of an attic window, you just might spot a seagull in the distance.

Our ex-neighbours once showed me the blurb written about their house when they put it on the market. Carol said reading it made her wonder why on earth she wanted to move, it sounded so idyllic!!

:haha::haha::haha:

Think John said something similar when he and Mim were searching for their home in Cornwall re the embellished Estate Agent descriptions.

It's got very windy up here tonight - just been putting the recycling bins out for collection and there was a snowstorm of leaves hurtling around so that will be my job now for the next few weeks, shovelling them all up into bin bags to rot down. With having a park just a few yards down the road, most of the leaves seem to make their way up into my front garden and pile up against the front door.

A very time consuming job, sweeping up leaves. Luckily since having cut down the branches of our cherry tree (it was blocking the sun in the afternoons) and the elm tree dying we don't have quite so many. good luck with that Kath.
