Quite a grey but dry day here today. Have been wondering what sort of weather Gloria has been having out in Spain, but since she will be home tomorrow, no doubt she will waste no time in telling us!

So, welcome back Gloria, hope you have had a great time, look forward to hearing all about it and seeing you next week.

Hi Kath and all FOMS'ers......yes back from Spain. My cough finally eased off on Friday, though still have a bit of a hack. Feel as though I'm talking through my nose though and we are now 4 weeks into it and about to start the fifth week!!! Not amused.

Did lots of talking (unsurprisingly as haven't seen my friend for two and a half years and we used to spend every weekend showing our dogs a while back, something we did for 12 years together). The talking probably has something to do with the hoarse voice I am now sporting.

Spain was not so sunny as it says it is. Non-the-less we were out and about and sat round her pool - looked at the show house across from her, very nice, could spend the winter in Spain think I could go for that, however possibly not Eddie!!

Now looking forward to being in Cornwall again......so see you soon - Kath and all who will be at the Lamorna Arts Festival.

Glad you're back safe and sound, Gloria, it would appear you left just in time if that horrible weather was setting in.

I can imagine how much catching up you had to do with your friend. I'm in for a very lengthy phone call to an old college friend of mine this evening. We chatted very briefly on Facebook on Wednesday and arranged to have a proper chinwag tonight - must make sure we have finished before Doc Martin starts at 9!!

Glad the cough is finally beginning to settle. Let's hope some good Cornish air will finish the job.

See you soon!

Look forward to seeing you shortly

Spent the day feeling rather chilly. Even when the weather in Spain wasn't as good as hoped for it was never anything other than warm to hot!! Heating on last night and tonight, might be because I'm under the weather (in more ways than one!). Is this payback for flu-less winters for a good number of years?

Elizabeth's having the same problem, Gloria. She's had a flu-type bug for about 10 days now and has been really rough. Even though our heating is on because I have been drying washing all day, and the house is toasty warm, she is sitting huddled up feeling very tired and cold. I shall pack her off to bed very shortly with a hot drink.

Claire is surrounded by 5 sick people in her office which she is not impressed with since she is singing in Dublin this weekend and off to Nashville in just over two weeks. Some have this flu bug, others a sickness bug so she is trying very hard to keep out of their way. Had to laugh at one of her chorus friends on Facebook who has just suggested making some biscuits with laxative chocolate and handing them round the office - that should be enough to keep them off work for a day or two!! :girl_wink:

Overcast here too but dry. Found a dead seal on Sennen beach this morning & have reported it so a volunteer is going down to log it and have it removed ~ sad really but I suppose they have to die sometime so perhaps it was natural causes. Tiny waves as tide nearly out but 2 surfers were going in! Don't think they'll have much luck finding waves but if they're here on holiday I expect theyill enjoy trying.

Forecast isn't brilliant I'm afraid so it might be Oliver Land on thursday just in case. It only went down to 13c overnight so still warm.

Safe journey. See you soon.

Dead basking shark, now a dead seal ..... doesn't sound like Sennen Cove is a healthy place for sea mammals to be!

Yes, I've been checking out the forecast and it's not looking very promising, is it? Have to see if we can meet Mary and John early on Thursday to give us good time to go to Oliver Land. After sitting on trains all day tomorrow I shall probably be ready for a good leg stretch.

Just been looking at my train connection times again. Have to say I shall be a bit stressed until I have caught the Plymouth train at Birmingham, since my connection from Stockport only allows a 12 minute leeway. That's not a lot of time to find out where the Plymouth train goes from and get to the right platform, and it assumes that my earlier train is bang on time! (and the only other time I have changed at B'ham, I got lost on the station!!). So, hopefully I shall see you at 3.54 tomorrow at PZ but will phone you if I have any problems.

See you very soon.

Hope all goes smoothly for your journey Kath, though the timing is somewhat tight.

To be in Cornwall whatever the weather will be great, although good weather is preferable, and you will have a good time.

Sad to find yet another sea creature dead, hopefully it doesn't mean there are any problems on that bit of the coast.

Good luck Kath, I'm sure it will all be fine. Hopefully the trains wont be too busy now the main holiday season has gone. I'll be at PZ station so see you then. Looking forward to going to Oliver Land again.

I think, Gloria, you've had a similar bug to one I "enjoyed" late Spring - a cough which lasted (as people told me it would) 6-8 weeks. Not much fun, but it does go eventually. I do wonder if these things take longer to go as we get old? A recent cold really lasted 10 days (drank lots of water, plenty of rest, took Vit C etc.) and I seem to remember they only used to last 3-4 days? Hope you feel totally better really soon - being at Bryher will surely help.

Please just send all that rain to Hertfordshire. So dry here and have to water my Winter pansies 2-3 times a week. Just in from a walk and the fields are dry as deserts. I guess there are probably seeds in the soil, just waiting for some rain. So, please arrange a good downpour over this area, so leaving plenty of sunshine for the Lamorna Arts Festival. Have fun :dance3:.

Janet, you are more than welcome to the miserable day we have had here today - been more like November. Hill fog, heavy drizzle and generally murky, and my car disliked it just as much as I did and refused to start, so haven't been able to do some of the things I had planned for today. It had better have got over its sulks by the time I get home!

Jane, I'll give you a quick call when I am on the train to Plymouth. Just had a phone call from Mary Owen and unfortunately they are having to go home tomorrow because of a family illness, so we shan't get to meet up with them.

Am all packed now and raring to go!

Great Kath, glad you're all ready. The forecast didn't look too bad for thursday and friday so we may be lucky after all.

Enjoy your reading on the journey. See you soon.

Janet I think you might well be right. The cough now seems to have more or less gone, but has left me feeling really low and not sure if I have toothache or neuralgia, which I do suffer from on occasions especially when I have a head cold/congestion. Think I'm falling to pieces!!

We are having to water the new bit of our front garden here in Herts too, trouble is once it starts to rain it just won't stop!

I hope you all have fun down in Cornwall and that the weather holds off for the festival.
Think of me when you visit Oliver Land.

Will make an Ambrose Rock wish for you Barbara that you make it to Oliver Land yourself before too long. Think I may be at Ambrose Rock for quite a while - so many wishes to make for so many people!!

Just having a quick bite to eat now before I head off to the station.
