Summer has arrived!!:haha: At long last we have had two consecutive warm sunny days, and today has been so gorgeous that I was tempted down to the garden centre where I spent far more than I should have done on plants, weedkillers, slug pellets, compost etc, so have been busy outside this afternoon planting up window boxes and a large planter. Still got the hanging baskets to do but need Elizabeth's help to get them down off the wall - it's a ladder job and I don't 'do' ladders!
I bought some beautiful pinks, two paler pink and one deep rose shade for the planter and have interspersed them with a vivid blue campanula and some paler blue nemesia. Will take some pics once it has bedded in properly. The window box above it is now planted with pale and deeper pink geraniums, begonia semperflorens and more of the pale blue nemesia, so hopefully it will provide a nice splash of colour for passersby to enjoy throughout the summer.
I'm on a colour co-ordinated scheme this year since, for the hanging baskets, I have got some deep crimson surfinia petunias, deep red nemesia, pale pink busy lizzies, the rest of the begonia semperflorens and some deep purply-blue trailing miniature petunias (the million bells type).
It will either look quite impressive or boring! Not quite sure which yet!! Either way, I spent far too much money!

Sounds lovely to me Kath. To tell the truth flowers of any colour never fail to give me pleasure, whether in my garden or someone elses..........It's been pretty hot here today too. Looking forward to seeing my garden in Mullion very soon.

Kath they sound FABULOUS! I so wish I was there to see them. The colours will look wonderful!
One thing I am extremely jealous of is the British ability to grow a profusion of petunias....ours just don't grow the same way here :frown:

It's snowing here today. Everything is covered in white again. All my potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, annual flowers, hollyhock, window boxes, boo hoo hoo.
Photo posted in my album. Going to hurl myself out my basement window now. Goodbye cruel world.

I can barely believe you are having snow again. Oh my word!! I would be joining you in the 'out of the window' experience if I were there, t'would be too much for me.:drag:

Oh Brenda, not more snow! That's just not fair! I really do feel for you. Mind you, I can remember a cricket match between Lancashire and Derbyshire being snowed off at Buxton back in the Seventies on 2nd June - think it was 1975 and we went on to have a very hot summer, so don't despair just yet.
It's been glorious here again today and I have been out finishing off the planting. Am planning to tackle the jungle tomorrow - wish me luck, I may disappear into there never to be seen again!! :jester:
Am having to borrow Elizabeth's laptop at the moment since my computer has got another dratted Trojan virus, which Norton got rid of but not before it managed to corrupt something which is preventing Windows from loading properly. We have taken it to hopefully be repaired without having to do a full re-boot, and thankfully Elizabeth managed to back up all my photos, music, documents etc onto a stick while we had the machine in safe mode. She managed to get rid of the one that invaded my space last week, but this blighter, Trojan Fakeavalert, seems to have wreaked its vengeance. What I would like to do to the evil b*******s who think it is fun to create these things couldn't be published on here!!!

There seem to be a few Trojan's about at present, as you know my avast couldn't get rid of my nasty one. Hope you don't have as large a bill as I did.....as you say why can't the people who invent and send them do something useful with their brains........they must have one or they wouldn't be able to dream up the 'evils'.......
Hope the jungle hasn't swallowed you up yet Kath......unless of course you meet Tarzan......that could make it all worthwhile.......:faint:

we can't recommend Kaspersky enough.... :)
sorry to hear this Kath....the problem is we all want to explore and we come up against this.
Have you downloaded or viewed a video from somewhere other than BBC...perhaps we should make each other aware of where we have been...forgive the expression! :)....so that others dare not go there too...
its so disheartening and such a r***y nuisance....think of buying some external storage and store photos and music and such like there so if it ever happens again you wont have to worry about that.....they are very cheap....and easy to install and use.

I visit few web-sites that aren't about a society or obviously secure. But I did view the site that donates rice and the Trojan appeared not long after that also while I was using the site a few odd things happened and I logged off in the end as I wasn't happy about it. This may or may not have been the cause of my problem. I haven't been back again.

We run AVG Anti-Virus Free and Zone Alarm which is a fire-wall. As DH is in the telecommunication/software/computing industries he thinks these are the best out there for free. I've NEVER had any problems since running these anti-virus/trojan programs. They pick up everything if you do regular updates and scans. I scan mine every 2nd day...and I use my computer every day for at least 4-5 hours.
Sorry Kath but Norton's anti-virus is known in the industry for not being very good :tape2:

Thanks everyone for your helpful comments and links to anti virus software. The guy in the computer shop has loaded on a programme called bit defender which he says they install on most of the machines they have taken in to them. It tends to find all the trojans that Norton and McAfee miss. All seems to working well now, so fingers crossed that it continues.
