Well, what a wild old night that was!!! Don't know what it was like across the rest of the country but we had such torrential rain overnight that it sounded as though the fire brigade was outside with a hosepipe turned on my bedroom window! Rain has stopped now but pretty grey and miserable out there.
Just looked at the Minack theatre webcam and the sea looks pretty turbulent there too.
Hope this good summer we have been promised arrives soon, only four weeks to go now before I head home to Cornwall and I really would like it to be just a bit warmer than this! We have had the heating on 3 nights this week - don't usually reckon to do that in May!

Hey, Kath,
The rain was lashing our house yesterday, too, and high winds overnight took down an enormous old pine tree on the edge of our driveway - luckily towards the road rather than onto our car and garage! So it was 'our bad' that no one had power for several hours in the morning. Peter spent the day cutting off the branches, which I dragged to the roadside, and then he started cutting up the trunk. We thought we'd have to pay neighbour Willy, our firewood guy, to haul it all away, but our nearest neighbour (the one who's only 500 feet away...) came along with his wife and kids and pickup truck and said he could use it all. We always worry when the wind gets up as we are surrounded by several large old pines of a similar age. We lost power again around 1:30 pm and didn't get it back until about 7 pm. There were trees down all over the place and, with our hydro lines installed above-ground, windstorms always create havoc.
We had a frost overnight and this morning I'm glad that I thought of taking my baskets of pansies in last night.
But it's gloriously sunny now, so all's right with the world.

Well it rained here, but not enough to disturb my sleep, so you have had it worse than us Kath it seems. Not brilliant today but not bad either. Eddie has put the beans in at the allotment and I should think all the cabbage, brocolli etc. has had a good watering.
Brenda it sounds as though you have had a right old time of it weatherwise...........I definitely don't like the sound of what you are having. Trees are lovely round the house but not so good when the weather is as bad. Let's hope for a bit of calm now and a bit more 'currant bun'.....:jester:

Well we didn't have rain but we had wind!! It literally thumped into our building making it shudder. We're used to it now but it was scary when it first happened.
Today has been cool and clear according to the weather bureau. Well the weatherman wasn't up here nor out on the terrace! It was gusty, cold and the only sunshine seen was that glittering off of the cars etc as they made their manic way around Melbourne's streets. We definately have the heating on and the EB going at night.
The scarf on the icon is what you'd have seen here today, if you'd visited wearing a scarf:-) :plane:

Mixture of sunny spells and beefy showers here today - and I just got caught in one of the showers! Took Mum shopping and the heavens opened just as I was carrying two loaded bags into her house from the car - of course, I had no coat on, did I?!! Now I am home, changed and dry again, the sun has come out. :flirt:

The heating has been on here too, Linda but have now turned it right down again, otherwise I shall swelter in bed tonight!
I got a mini holiday brochure from Shearings today advertising their autumn/winter/Christmas breaks - somehow with this cold weather, it didn't seem that inappropriate!!

Winter hols eh? I reckon we might be able to visit Bryher with a bit of comfort by then - with any luck and a following wind.

Shouldn't have allowed that thought to cross my mind......the builders aren't there again!!........on another job, always thought there would be a problem once the insurance money was paid out. Really they are just fitting in our work with other jobs so they always have something to fall back on when everything else is slow. I just have to get down there and say my bit about it all as Eddie doesn't seem to keep his foot on the pedal with them, which doesn't mean that he isn't fed up.
