Switched on TV to enjoy lunch with Ben Fogle  and, joy of joys, 'Country Tracks' today was all about Cornwall - from Looe Island to Lands End via Eden, Lizard, coastal path, sea salt making, St Ives, surfing and basking sharks etc.

For those who want to find it on BBC iPlayer (?), it was on BBC1 today at 12.05 p.m. and programme was called 'Country Tracks'. It was so good - as was Ben Fogle  .

Just been watching it online and it was excellent. Thank You Janet. The feature on the Serpentine I loved and wish i had some of it ...it really is a very attractive stone and some of the colours are amazing. The feature on the salt I recall reading about in Cornwall Today and it was very interesting and pleasing to see 'new' inducstires starting up and making a success.

Serpentine? We can give you some........we had a Serpentine carver come yesterday,he lives at Mawgan and has a really good website, not sure if he's interested in taking it or not. He has taken some small pieces to see if he can use them. If not we will have a very nice, if expensive, rockery. We just couldn't live with it as a fireplace........it dominated the room and was just too dark. But it's certainly beautiful and only found here. We value it enough not to want it to go to a farmers field to fill in a muddy gateway. Anyway Don Taylor the carver will get back to us, his work is displayed at Roskilly's. :D Missed the programme but will try and take a look once we are back in Croxley.

I watched the programme online last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has made me even more impatient for the next few weeks to pass so I can be back in Sennen again!

I really enjoyed seeing that interview with Babs Atkins again too on Looe Island. Having got both the books that Evelyn wrote about their adventures there, it made me decide that I must dig them out and read them again.

Linda - look it's obvious where you should be so - come on.......be a neighbour  I should think there will be some Serpentine around for quite a while unless Don decides he wants the lot. He not only carves Serpentine, but wood also and makes furniture and items from driftwood, he has a chair in the style of Rennie MacIntosh that would look good in the porch, I think it's about £460 that's the only problem. :D So --- are you going to start looking in the West.......how do you fancy having a share in donkey keeping? I just need that field. :)

Go on, Linda, there are one or two nice properties up for sale around Mullion at the moment on various websites!!! Get working on Jeff! One of the properties is/has been a B&B - just think, a ready made business for you to accommodate all FOMS members making the trek to our favourite place!

The place you mention Kath is, I think, on Meaver Road as you go into the village. It backs onto farmland and is just round the corner from Bryher. If you want a chamber maid or someone to wait on tables I'll be on the doorstep!!

Stratton Creber have it for sale £450,000 5 bedroom......St Mellanus House. It's been on the market a while so an offer would have to be considered well I would have thought. Funny thing about this property because I am pretty sure that a while ago a FOMS member lived there. In fact not so long ago I wrote to them (cannot remember their name right now) and asked if they were still interested to be members. I know from Patricia that there were FOMS members living in Mullion as they had told her that they used to wave across the bay to Minack, think they knew Derek as well. Anyway that's a bit of a Wavelength. In actual fact it's amazing how many times Derek mentions The Lizard in his books and there are several mentions of Mullion itself. :D
