Spring is finally here! It matters not what the weatherman brings because spring has arrived: the Meadowlarks have arrived!!
They have all arrived together this morning from their wintering in warmer southern climes. The Western Meadowlark is a beautiful bird,about Song-Thrush sized with magnificent bright yellow underparts and a song like a stream of music being poured from a pitcher.It's golden song is the voice of Alberta's grasslands,ringing out all day long and for me is the quintessential praire sound.
I will be enjoying it from dawn til dusk until October. Yeah!
