Just uploaded not a particularily good pic of Ollie, our resident Great Horned Owl.He is very difficult to spot as his camouflage amongst the Poplars is excellent. The large"ear"tufts are not ears at all, just hair.

We heard the coyotes howling last night. In the dead of night when you are tucked up safely in bed it is a wonderful sound, provocative, eerie and spine-tingling and never forgotten.

This a link to a Nat.Geographic website for Coyotes.Click on the Video/Sound link and watch and listen to the sound and picture videos they are great.

On our early morning walk today the dogs chased the resident fox but only half-heartedly as they,as well as the fox,are fully aware that they have zero chance of catching it and if they somehow did,the hunter would suddenly become the hunted!

Later on also saw a coyote. They are much more circumspect and alert than the fox and always see us a long time before we see them and keep a safe distance.

More migrating birds are appearing daily. It is great!
