I lived in Portugal for a few years but I used to get very upset at the amount of hunting & killing of wildlife that went on there ( anything that has fur, feathers etc)..
and Ive always taken interest in the survival of the Lynx in Portugal. There used to be quite a sizeable population in the Algarve but gradually their habitat has been eroded...until there is only a small population left.
But Ive recently had good news from Algarve. A reservation is being set up near the baragem (reservoir), just a short distance from the old Moorish capital Silves.
Once we sell this place, we are hoping to move back to Algarve, possibly Silves..its my dearest wish to see one of these creatures in the wild. I don't know whether Ill ever get that wish but just to know that they are going to be helped to survive is good enough for me :)
