When we arrived at Bryher we found the field behind had been cut and baled and they were collecting them on the tractor. Once they had finished we were transfixed watching a huge bird who from wing tip to wing tip had to measure 3 foot......... what might it be John? I must find my book of birds. He/She flew or rather glided over the field obviously hunting and rested for ages on a telegraph pole at the edge of the field. I have taken a photo which I will post later but it was a good distance away so perhaps not very clear. Then, having rested for a long while, it was joined by it's mate and they hunted together for a while. We were so thrilled to see their wonderful display. After that day we didn't see them again I guess they are spoiled for choice at the moment as so many fields are being harvested. On the day we went to Blackwater to the Aga showroom we had slowed with the traffic by a field when suddenly the same species of bird flew right across the front of the car........so sudden was it I really didn't have time to log it properly, but Eddie said it had a hooked beak and was mottled brown and white. Any thoughts on what it might be, Eddie thought a Buzzard. Didn't seem to emit a cry of any kind.

Sounds like an eagle to me Gloria - but what do I know? Do hope John knows what it is 'cause I'm really curious too.

Do you know Janet I thought that as well........I can't tell you what large birds they were. So clever the way they hunted and the smaller birds didn't seem afraid but kept out of their way. :)
