Hi folks,
Im ellie, Im a Londoner but I live in the Linc Wolds, which is a beautiful part of Lincolnshire.
Im married to Mac an ex London fireman and we've lived here for 8 years. We have 3 children, all grown up, 2 grandsons,9 & 13 and a little granddaughter of 3.
We lived in Portugal (Algarve) for a few years, running a carpentry business, in the 90s...and in 2005 I had my book published 'Algarve Shorts', in which I tell of our experiences in Portugal.
Up until recently I did part time garden work but I have arthritis in my hip now which has prevented me carrying on and Im awaiting a replacement Op.
Ive just completed another book which should be out in near future and I also write for Portuguese website, Carvoeiro.com, and have my own page 'Ellie's Corner'.
Nearly forgot, Ive also started on some children's stories and I send them to my grandson 9, for his approval :)
Its good to be here, as I was a great fan of Derek Tangye's stories which Jeannie illustrated..always found a 'comfort' in them as well as delighting in the different stories.
Jeannie died relatively young and I feel sad that neither she or Derek are around anymore but they left a great legacy and I love re-reading their stories of Minack :)
best wishes

Hello Ellie, welcome on board the forum, look forward to hearing your views about the Chronicles and what they have meant to you. You certainly sound to have led an eventful life so far, and I am very impressed that you are a published author too. You will have something in common with our Brenda who is about to do likewise.

Hello, Ellie. If Wisbech is in Lincolnshire  , then I wasn't far from you today. I visited Wisbech with my local U3A group, by coach, for The Rose Fair. Very enjoyable it was too - St Peter and St Paul Church's flower festival was absolutely lovely. The procession of floats, mostly depicting book titles, was great and the children really cute in their costumes. Best of all, though, was Peckover House - a stunning Georgian House with beautiful gardens, which I had to myself as it was raining at that point. Also met one of the Peckover cats in the garden.
But I digress, sorry  . Welcome to the Forum and looking forward to reading more from you.

Janet I think our digressions (is there such a word?) are what make this forum really good, much more like a conversation going on between us........so never fear the digression.
Nice to hear about your day and a good intro for Ellie into this piece of Minack World :D

Hi Ellie very nice to meet you!
What a colorful and rich life! I know quite a few fans of Jane Austen in another forum.
I am a new fan of the Tangye’s and enjoying the chronicles immensely. I decided to purchase the books first and read in order, so it will take me sometime. I think I did forget to mention before that I LOVE Jeannie’s illustrations, I think they are fantastic and witty!
I used to spend hours a day in my garden but the move to this warm weather and arthritis have diminished the labor to almost nothing, but if it weren’t for that I would have not taken on my passion for reading, in particular books with England as background… one author got me to few others in the same line and here I am.
Looking forward to hear more from you!

Elliex,
You mentioned you are in your second book… I have been absent a bit lately so not sure if it is mentioned anywhere else, did you or can you share the titles of your books with us and a little about them?
Hope you are feeling better about your pain and can wean down from medication. Medication can be wonderful but can also make you miserable, I just battled a bit because of medications.
