Hello everyone, thank you Gloria and Janet for the kind welcome :D
I have looked at the website a couple of times but have only just got around to registering
I have been a Minack fan since discovering the books in the early 1980s. Sadly I did not meet Derek although he did send a very nice note inviting us to pop in after signing a book for me.
We had walked the coastal path past the cottage many times and it was wonderful to see Carn Barges, the lighthouse, the little gate etc "for real" so to speak. We were far too shy to call at the cottage though!
In 2006 my husband and I stayed in St Buryan for a weeks holiday and visited Oliver land. It was a lovely experience. The atmosphere in West Penwith is always magical but especially so at Minack. The visit for us was enhanced by the fact that we were the only visitors :D
So many incidences in the books strike a chord but last year we lost a much loved dog unexpectedly to illness. Afterwards feeling sad we were sitting in the garden and suddenly realised that there was a little robin hopping around us. It mmediately bought to mind Dereks robin after losing Jeannie. Definately a "wavelength" moment.
Sorry this is such a long hello.
regards
Annette

No apologies necessary.........we love to hear from all forum members and you will see that I am certainly guilty of long postings but by these means we have got to know one another which is all to the good I think. Great to hear your Minack story it is similar to mine - I too never met Derek or Jeannie but have never felt that detracted from my love of the Chronicles and I feel I 'meet' them both every time I read one. As you say Minack and the surrounding area are especially magic although Cornwall as a whole is hugely wonderful to me. You will discover more and more 'Wavelength' moments here I can assure you and there are some great people to meet through this forum. So keep posting and ask away if you have any queries there will always be someone to jump in and help - mainly Linda and Jeff who gave us this wonderful Minack Cyberspace. So Great to Know You. :D

Annette,
Welcome! You are another lucky one to live in heavenly country. I am not only the newest (novice) fan of Derek and the chronicles but also tucked in the USA and do wonder what am I doing here!
I am a strong believer of birds’ talk and their messenger duties. That was an awesome experience! They say that when you experience what looks like a little miracle if the message is clear and leaves you with no doubts or questions, it was a miracle!
I see you are from Worcestershire my best friend, more like a sister, lives in Wooster! She has visited me twice and I yet have to go by.
