Hello! Thanks for the lovely welcome! :D

I'm Victoria, Jennie's daughter! I'm 38, married, no children -, well, that's not strictly true: we share out house with 2 cats, Monty and Merlin - not in the house we have 2 siberian husky retirees, Tassy and Enya and 1 horse (the divine Miss Taffy) who thinks the world revolves around her (actually, it does  ). Taffy and I "do dressage" and we've actually just finished building my dressage arena - a dream come true for me!

We live on a small property in Australia, about an hours drive from the nation's capital (Canberra) and we both work for the Commonwealth government. I'm an environmental auditor and my husband (Al) is in IT (computers).

We visited Cornwall in 2006 and hope/plan to return next year, we can hardly wait! We totally fell in love with Cornwall - it was almost like being in a dream when I stood by Carn Barges, watching the Scillonian pass by, almost as if on cue! It's rather special to me that my ancestors lived not so very far away :D

Derek's books definitely appeal to the introvert in me, and my love of solitude, the country, the animals (esp cats and horses!) - just to be away from all the hustle and bustle.
Anyway, that's me for now, will post more when I get back from an upcoming work trip to Queensland next week.

Take care everyone, abnd thanks again for the warm welcome. :D

Hello Victoria, lovely to hear from you. Do I take it that Monty and Merlin were named because of your fondness for all things Minack?

When are you hoping to get over to Cornwall next year? It would be lovely if you could time your visit to coincide with the AGM and Memorial Walk.

It is amazing how Derek has managed to link so many people from all across the globe, purely because of our interest in his books. I'll bet he would be staggered to see just how many friendships have been forged thanks to him and Jeannie.

Look forward to chatting with you again on your return from Queensland.
