Hi Christie, welcome to FOMS, glad to have you aboard. Linda says you are from East Vancouver Island and are visiting Minack next week - lucky you!

We have a member, Colleen, who has just moved to Newlyn from Vancouver Island, I am sure she would love to meet up with you and perhaps walk with you to Minack and Oliver Land. You would certainly have lots to chat about.

Look forward to hearing from you, especially when you have paid your visit to Oliver Land.

Christie you and your son are most welcome to Minack in cyberspace. You cannot fail to love Cornwall and especially the parts that you will be visiting. As Kath has told you Colleen has relocated to Newlyn and we have other wonderful Friends of Minack living in the area. Look forward to hearing from you and your tales of Cornwall.

It's lovely to be a member of FOMS. My 12 year old son Julian and I went to Minack two weeks ago and followed Linda's excellent directions from the Wink pub on the inland path (which is rather overgrown in places - but did feel the Ley line energy at the stream in the woods.)
As soon as we got onto the path a little robin appeared on my left in the bushes singing its heart out at full blast! I felt like it was Jeannie welcoming us.
Then again as soon as we entered Oliver Land the same thing happened. Very cosmic!
It was rather a stormy day and we sheltered in the donkey stable for a while as the rain came down and nibbled chocolates.
Again, felt like we were looked after as the stable appeared just in time. The wind blew my umbrella inside out!
We hiked the coast path back to Lamorna and hitched a ride to Lamorna Pottery where we got there 20 minutes before closing. Just in time to buy some Tangye books and read the scrap book. Bought a DVD as well. A nice memento.
A lovely day and made the bus back to Penzance just in time.
That's all for now as I've never been on a forum before and am not sure where this posting will end up.

Hi Christie, it ended up in exactly the right place!! :D Super to have such a recent report on Oliver Land and great to know you enjoyed it and felt it's magic. The potteries Tangye corner is kept by FOMS's Jenny Murrish who replenishes it and keeps it's stock. So pleased you managed to purchase a few Tangye collectables. Look forward to hearing from you more now you have got into the swing of posting. :D Wait for it.......you will get lots more replies to your posting.......I can hear Kath, Janet and Linda for three, just getting into gear to reply

I'm really so happy to hear from you all. I only wish I'd joined up with more time before I left so that I would have been able to perhaps meet up with some of you - especially Colleen.
I promise to post some photos of our trip soon. I'm at work now (the only chance I have to be on a decent computer) so better get back to it.
Thankyou for all your lovely input! :D

Hi Christie, so glad you managed to find your way to Oliver Land and the Tangye corner at Lamorna Pottery.

The weather you experienced sounds very reminiscent of our Memorial Walk day on Easter Sunday. Heavy rain, quite windy, and as we were paying our respects to Derek and Jeannie at Honeysuckle Meadow, down came the hailstones in torrents! But did it spoil our enjoyment - not a bit!

Look forward to hearing lots more from you now you have found that you can post successfully.

Do join in on some of the other threads too. We have quite a discussion going at the moment about the various Chronicles, favourite passages from the books etc, and it is always good to have another viewpoint to ponder and discuss.

Christie - so pleased to hear you found Oliver Land and Lamorna Pottery by bus. Although it can mean waiting around and checking timings very carefully, taking the bus to Lamorna has always made my visits seem more of an adventure and more exciting somehow. I appreciate the stillness of Lamorna Valley and the woods around the Pottery, the breeze (and raindrops!) on the leaves and the simple peace of the place.

Christie,
Very nice to meet you! I am one of the newest members and reading about your experience at Minack all I can do is wish that would be me one day. The welcome of the robins, or perhaps it was the same one, is in its own worth putting up with the inconveniences. I have been very impressed with the birds of Minack! And your Minack is a wonderful place; love the angle of the photo also! Looking forward to more photos.
Obviously Derek and Jeannie are always present at Minack. That is so fascinating!

Hi Christie
good to hear from you on the Forum and that you enjoyed your trip to Lamorna - pity we missed you - we're only just up the road from the Lamorna Pottery. Hope you had some decent weather when you were here; it's been very changeable this year, moving overnight from glorious sunshine to wind and rain, but that's really how its always been in Cornwall, and although we feel anxious that visitors should see it at its best, we love it whatever the weather.
hope to hear more from you
John
PS It's been warm and sunny today!

Mili - I too hope that one day you will experience Oliver Land and the wonder of Cornwall. When you do make it be sure to let us know in good time so that we can try and meet up with you. In the meantime, travel to Minack with a Chronicle, Derek wanted everyone to experience Minack whether they actually travelled there in person or in mind. So you manage to fulfill one of Derek's wishes. :D

Gloria,
I started Lama last night, I was supposed to read A Drake at the Door but it is not here yet. I looked through the pages of The World of Forever but realized it will be best to read it after I have read the books. I am enjoying the tour! Definitely will let you know if I ever see my journey to Minack is to be fulfilled.

Hi Linda!
I was about to ask where you were! I realized I had quite a few more posts to read other than those notices I get in my inbox. You miss one day and posts mound up! I am already enjoying Lama and looking forward to cozy moments this weekend in my favorite chair and book in hand! Also have a lot of work to do to rebuild my computer data. I will try to keep up with reading posts but not sure how much time will have for replies so if I do not make it have a great weekend everyone!
