The Minack Chronicles first came into my life in 1995 when I came across the book, Somewhere a Cat is Waiting in my local library.
I am a cat lover and went to the cards to look under Cats and this book was listed. I read it and fell in love with the World of Minack. Try as I might back then, I had no other access to books by Derek. The Internet was non-existant back then, and the local library here in Birmingham, Alabama USA did not carry other books by Derek or Jeannie. I thought about the stories in the book many times over the years, but did not try to pursue finding other books until one day recently thought to use the Internet to do so. That's when I found your wonderful website on Minack!
I am an Information Technology professional; it is a high stress world. To relax, I enjoy bonding with my two cats, the outside beauty of flora, walking and writing. I have a delightful garden of my own out back of my house: with a soft waterfall, flowers, and other botanical elements. I would like to visit Minack one day as I feel I know Derek and Jeannie from reading many of the Minack Chronicles....more reading to come as I am able to find all the out of print books from websites.

Hi Robin

Nice to meet you on the forum. If you are struggling to find copies of all the Chronicles, keep an eye on the Ebay Tangye search at the top of the page as most of the books crop up on there fairly regularly, and can often be picked up for a very reasonable price.

We have just had a regular visitor from America, Judy Castree from Chicago, over for the Memorial Weekend, so maybe we shall see you in Penzance next March? You would then have not only the chance to meet in person a lot of the people from the forum, but also to visit Oliver Land and see Dorminack, make a wish at the Ambrose Rock and pay your respects to Derek and Jeannie at the Honeysuckle Meadow.

Hello Robin and welcome to out great Minack Forum. If you would like to become a member of FOMS you will find the membership form on the forum the bonus of which is that you will receive the very wonderful 'Wavelength' which Patricia Wilnecker provides us with about four times a year. It is full of Tangye stories, how people met them and their own Minack experiences plus tales from Patricia's own Bumble Bee Cottage which have become very popular with Wavelength's devoted readers. Being a member of FOMS is very highly reccomended. So for all new (and old) forum members why not download a membership form and join today. :D
