Hi, I'm 56, married from Harrogate. I'm the FD and IT Director of 2 underwear Companies in Leeds and Nelson. We have 3 cats, Percy, Ambrose and Douglas. Douglas is Ginger and sounds to be a cross between Monty and Garfield. He is not quiet or slim!

I bought some (3) Derek Tangye Books on Saturday at the York Book Fair and I'm now hooked. Pauline and I used to stay in Cornwall years ago in Mousehole at a B&B, then once in the Lobster Pot and once in the Pub behind the Lobster Pot. We love the area and have been to Minack Theatre productions.

It looks like we'll be down for the AGM so we will be looking for accomodation.

I've had a lovely welcome from Linda and hope this is a fair start at introductions.

Kindest thoughts for 2008 to you all,

Nick Moulsdale

Hello Nick, welcome to the forum and the world of Minack fanatics! Hope you will enjoy chatting with us on here, not only about all things Minack, but also about Cornwall in general, your favourite areas etc.

Glad to hear that you will be joining us for the AGM, look forward to meeting you there. It was my first time at Memorial Weekend last year but I immediately felt that I was among friends and had a wonderful time.

If you are looking for reasonable B&B accommodation I can recommend the Dunedin Hotel on Alexandra Road in Penzance. I stayed there last year, and have booked in again this time, along with Janet Swan, another forum member. John and Linda, the proprieters are a very friendly couple and their breakfasts will set you up for the day!

Which of Derek's books did you buy? You will be able to stock up with more at the AGM because Jennie Murrish has quite a sizeable selection of both hardback and paperback copies.

Hi Nick - how good to see you here and even more wonderful that you have discovered Minack. The books are, as you have discovered, completely spell binding and once smitten you will always love them. I'm sure I remember the Lobster Pot, but whether it is still there or not I cannot say. There are so many good places to stay in Cornwall and the food there is tip top. Kath is right in that the AGM is a gathering of like minded people so you will feel right at home immediately. Enjoy your Minack time in the books until then. Happy New Year! :D

If I've remembered correctly, I regret that The Lobster Pot in Mousehole has now become a privately owned, "luxury home" which the owner uses for about 7 days each year. The pub behind it is still there though, and, if you'd prefer to rent, there are plenty of delightful cottages in Mousehole. Looking forward to meeting you both at the AGM, wherever you decide to stay.

Wow! Well I bought "The World of Minack", which I read a few pages of straight away (in the book Fair) and then bought A Gull on the Roof and A Cat in the Window. I've sent an email to the Bookseller I got them from and will see if he will part with the rest at a fair price.

I remember The Lobster Pot closing, which was sad. I'll see about booking accomodation and let everyone know what we're doing. We're hoping to come down on the Wednesday night (or early Thursday Morning) but its a longish haul from Harrogate, so may break journey on the way. We'll see.

Thanks for the interest and replies, lovely to return from a hard first day back after 2 weeks off to some friendly messages, Thank You.

Kindest thoughts :~)

Nick

If your bookseller can't come up with the rest of the Chronicles at a reasonable price, Nick, click on the Ebay Tangye search button at the top of this page. There are usually lots of the books, both paperback and hardback for sale, some at ridiculously low prices.
I have bought some real bargains from them.
