:) Hi,my name is Nick and my wife is Lorna. We have joined the forum in memory of her Mum Louisea Rastall who sadly passed away this August.
Louisea never got the chance to visit Cornwall through ill health but she managed to get a 'feel' for the place through our own visits and constantly picked our brains for as much information as she could. She had collected almost the entire listing of the 'Tangye'books and during our yearly holiday in Sennen Cove Lorna and I even managed to buy a signed copy for her in St Ives along with the videos of Minack purchased from the Pottery cafe. Louisea was thrilled to bits with that book and it stood proudly on her mantlepiece. You can imagine my shock to discover she had left it to me in her Will because I had no interest at all in the stories it told....After all,I only bought the book for her to keep her happy,as a son in law tends to do  .. Well,I have read it now, and I am slowly but surely begining to understand that 'warmness' and 'caring' glow she beamed out, whenever she spoke of the Minack events...and I reckon the old girl knew I would see things her way in the end too!!
We would like to join in with the chat in here and gain more of an insight and a deeper understanding from the FOM and hope you'll help us.
Nice to meet you all..
Nick & Lorna.

Hi Nick and Lorna - great to meet you here in Minack (cyber space) land.
There are many routes to finding Minack and they are all good ones. John has a marvellously appropriate way of describing it - I think it goes "spirit of place" which is Minack through and through. The stories transport you through seasons, clifftop meadows, the roar of the ocean and the sound of nature in all it's forms - they are simply magic.
Perhaps you will meet some of us in person at the Memorial Weekend which is a really great Minack Time. :D

Hi Nick and Lorna,
Am glad you joined us!
Although I have already said welcome ~ 'Welcome' to the world of Minack and enjoy this forum. Whatever you want to find out please just ask, dont ever feel that you cannot ask a question everyone will be only too pleased to help.
You will no doubt already be aware that there is a certain 'magic' about the area around Lamorna, St Buryan and Minack, you may feel it as I do when you turn into the road leading to Lamorna, like you have entered a portal, or when you walk the inland walk (~Donkey Walk) to Minack and cross the little stream into the little wooded area en route, or as you walk around Oliver Land. It is a sense of spirit, and I think Derek described it well when he said that its as if you can see all the people who have gone before criss crossing your path in these places (altho' his reference was directly to Minack) as tho' time is of no reference.
We all feel it and are drawn back again and again. Some of our members are moving there ~ Gloria who has already answered above, Patricia who is the editor for our magazine Wavelength, and our Jennie and Gerald who live there already looking after the Tangye Centre etc at the Lamorna Pottery, Gerald who is currently our Secretary and John and Mim Nash, Chair and Vice Chair of FOMS.
A friend of mine who I have known for 13 years who knew Derek and Lisa and Malcolm who ran the Lamorna Cove Hotel has also moved there in just this last two weeks ~ with two donkeys from the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth.
You never know maybe the magic will finally encapture you and Lorna that you decide to move there too.
Now you have read one you need to start reading the rest...we guarantee you will feel as though you are there in your mind's eye.
You are most welcome to come to the AGM which will be next March , in fact its Easter weekend! So book your accomodation asap!
most of all just enjoy chatting with all here....

Hi Nick & Lorna
Welcome to the world of Minack devotees. I am so glad your mother-in-law introduced you to the wonderful world of the Chronicles. As Linda says, now you have read one of the books, read the rest too and become as captivated by the lifestyle of Derek & Jeannie, and Derek's thoughtful, and thought-provoking philosophies on life in general.
You will regularly see "wavelength" being mentioned on this forum, and in time hopefully both of you will come to appreciate what it means. Although some of us on the forum have met at Memorial Weekend, many others have not, but it doesn't seem to matter. After a very short time, we all find we have so much in common and have forged very strong bonds, so that we consider ourselves to be true friends. It is a very special place here on these boards and I hope you enjoy it too.
Look forward to chatting with you both, and as Linda says, if you want to know anything, just ask. We all like nothing better than chatting about anything to do with Minack or Cornwall in general.

Welcome Nick and Lorna from me and Mim. That was a nice story for your intro - I hope you'll enjoy the Forum - as you can see we've created quite an international group here. Many of us have met at our annual Foms getogether in Minack Country, but whether we've met or not, all of us have made friends with so many who are on the same 'Wavelength'.

:) Hello all. Sorry we've been gone for so long but we are in temporary accommadation since being flooded out all those months ago and don't get much time to log on. The amount of redecoration has been long and tiresome..all to be done after a hard days work too!
Anyway..we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and join us in a restful holiday and 'cheers' for the New Year.
We hope to move back home on Jan' 12th :D
Regards
Nick & Lorna

:D Hi all,
Glad to say we are home, the move took place as arranged but it was touch and go because of the heavy rain and snow.
We had to borrow a 4x4 to just get out of the farm we were at and did the move bit by bit.
The house is looking good now but the garden is suffering from months of neglect, which means my weekends are still very busy getting things straight!
Lorna is determined to get to grips with the internet so get ready for her chats  She is keen to follow on from Louisea and become involved with things Minack.
Thought you might like to see our cats..the black one is Lucky and the other is Rusty, and was Louisea's,now adopted by us. As you can see, they are begining to tolerate one another ...at last

Hi Nick
Glad to see that you have managed to get back home at long last. I'll bet you have been having nightmares this past couple of weeks of it all happening again with the awful rains recently.
Look forward to hearing more from you both once you are straight again.
PS the cats are lovely.
