Hi all,

I'm Lexy and I suppose you could call me a closet Tangye fan, having discovered Derek's books several years ago and selfishly reading and re-reading them, hugging Derek and Jeanie's soulfulness and zest for living to myself, not realising until recently that I wasn't completely alone in my admiration for them both and, their chosen lifestyle.

I live in the Cotswolds but stayed in Newlyn recently for a week. Finally I plucked up the courage to visit the Minack area on the last day but realised that I had walked in the wrong direction.

Though I didn't come across Oliver Land physically, I realised whilst I was walking that really, much of Cornwall, indeed of the UK, is in fact Oliver Land. It's through the appreciation of the nature and landscape around us that we can all experience it. So although there was a small amount of dissappointment on that very hot Saturday, I visit Oliver Land in my own lovely garden and part of the world, whenever I choose to.

Lexy

Hi Lexy
nice to hear from you. Thank you for the piccy. the sparkle on the water is beautiful. You are obviously on the right 'Wavelength' in your appreciation of Derek's books, lifestyle, views on life and love of the Cornish countryside - in other words you are at the right place here we are all on the same 'Wavelength'.
Perhaps you will be able to make Memorial Weekend, you will find it such a happy weekend and you will be able to enjoy being as near to Dorminack as it is possible to be now. Keep posting we love to hear about everyone's 'Minack' connections. :)

Hello Lexy, how lovely to have another Tangye fan join our happy band.

What a shame you didn't find Oliver Land on your visit to Newlyn, but as Gloria says perhaps you will be able to join us for Memorial Weekend next March for the FOMS AGM and the Memorial Walk, which this year will take place on Jeannie's birthday, 23 March, which is also Easter Sunday I believe.

Do join in and post your views about the Chronicles and what they mean to you, and any other topics you want to share with us all. If you have read any of the many threads on this site you will see what a chatty lot we are, but we love to welcome new friends so please don't feel shy about posting your comments too.

Don't know if you have joined FOMS yet but if not, may I recommend that you do. You will get a wonderful newletter three times a year from Patricia Wilnecker called Wavelength which I am sure you would enjoy.

Look forward to hearing much more from you in the near future.

Kath

Hi Lexy

Welcome!

What a beautiful picture...is it to the left of the bottom of Carn Barges ??...because if it is it may have answered a a question I have been asking myself for a very long time.... do please tell and put me out of my misery

You are quite right about appreciating nature and the landscape...think thats what derek was trying to tell us when he suggested we find our own Minacks...although the pull of Oliver Land will always be very strong for us all....you still have a real treat in store....

Linda

Thanks for your comments and words of welcome everyone.

Linda, not sure that I will be helping you much - we walked to the right of the Theatre, which I later realised was our mistake, though to be sure, the views and the lovely little beach down there were well worth it.
