Welcome to FOMS, look forward to hearing from you on the forum. Linda has advised us that you love Cornwall, especially the Mullion area, which will immediately give you loads in common with Gloria who loves that area and is looking to move there very soon.

Hello Tarn, Welcome to this fab. forum. All things Minack and Cornwall are close to our hearts and minds so you should feel right at home in our company. Yes we do indeed love Mullion so would love to hear your experiences of the village. Did you stay at the Polurrian or Mullion Cove, we have stayed at both on different occasions or did you stay in one of the B&B's. There is a B&B up for sale in Nansymellon Road, now if I were a few years younger I could be tempted!! :)

That reminds me, Gloria. We stayed at the Polurrian for a long weekend a few years back - just after it had changed hands and they were still renovating it - around us.

We saw nothing that weekend as we were in dense fog the whole weekend!

Hello Tarn and a warm welcome to our happy band. You're among friends here, so feel free to share your experiences of the Chronicles, or all things and places Cornish. Don't be shy about asking questions, as someone always seems to know the answer, or at least can point you in the right direction.

Thank you for the welcome. We have stayed at many places in Cornwall but our favourite was in 1995 and that was self catering at Lampra Mill, Mullion- really secluded. I think you can still stay there but it has been renovated now. Last year we stayed at a complex going out of Mullion towards the coast near the cafe/craft shop.
I discovered 'The Books' in March 1995 while staying in North Cornwall then rediscovered them again this year after stumbling accross this Website! and then started viewing all your discussions etc.
We nearly dropped in on Derek in Sept 96 (stayed at Porthgwarra then) but after we had been told he had not been well by an artist in Lamorna we decided against it. We were on the coastal path and could see the 2 donkeys but it all looked Private.
We love walking this area and visiting especially out of season. I was gazing at the Minack Theatre Webcam this morning before I went to work and decided that would be a better place to be today! Our family are 3 cats, all rescue, all girls and they don't always get on so we have some fun and games with them! Ages 2, 3 and 4. Our previous family was also 3 cats, 2 girls and 1 boy they all got on and all lived until they were 18 years old. Well that's a bit about me and my hubby. Hope to join your 'chats' soon.

Interestingly, September 1996 was when we dropped in on Derek. True, he wasn't that well though we had no idea before we arrived but he was still enjoying his glass of white wine that afternoon!

Yes we have had a taste of being 'fogged or sea misted in' all part 'n parcel of that part of the world.
Tarn I know the place you mean by the craft/cafe but I don't know Lampra Mill so I will take a look into it.
I too missed out on meeting either Derek or Jeannie although I 'discovered' the Chronicles years ago, at least 30. I think my first introduction to them was via 'Womans Weekly' when they serialised one of them. On trips to Cornwall with my husband and three young sons I tried in vain to look for the Winding Lane (where two important members of FOMS now live - but I will leave them to tell you who they are 8) ) but failed so when I eventually found exactly where it is last year it was the end of many years seeking and to tell the truth we probably passed it many times without even knowing. But we all find our way to Minack via different routes and timespans and the stories are so ageless it doesn't really matter when, where or how just that at some point you make it. Nice to hear from you and we will be interested to hear more of your Minack connections and of course your cats. :D
