Hi I'm Diane I'm introducing myself as I am a new member.

I am so incredibly grateful to be welcomed by "The Spirits of
Minack - to their World of Forever
Where Life Continues
And Death is Never".

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1943 and I am not a
terribly "social person" like Derek "I enjoy the pleasure of
being alone". and again like Derek, with Cherry, I spend that
time alone with my beloved friend "Tiger-Lily" (my cat). "I am
safe with her", I am a very quiet, sensitive person -- again,
quoting Derek - "Quietness opens the door to sensitive
pleasures". I love to Read. Blessings , Diane

Hi Diane - nice to meet you here in cyber 'Oliver Land'. There's a great bunch of people here and I was lucky to meet many of them last weekend. So keep posting to us and we will soon get to know each other.

Hi Diane

Welcome to the forum. As Gloria says, feel free to post your views on any topic, or raise your own; it's always interesting to hear other people's thoughts on the Chronicles and the effect Derek and Jeannie have had on their lives.

We all of us "escape" to Minack through the books and last weekend I was one of the lucky ones who made to Oliverland for the Memorial Day. It was over 20 years since I had last been there so it was a real trip down memory lane for me. I was lucky enough to meet Derek in 1985, and Merlin and Fred too. Memorial Weekend was a lovely experience since all the people present were so much on the same wavelength; although I had never met any of them before it felt as though I was amongst a group of close friends, and the feeling in this forum is much the same - very friendly and sociable, so hope you soon feel very much at home with us.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

Kath

Just one week when I didn't look at the Members list and there's five new names; so welcome Janet, Heather, Joan, Diane and Longtonlady. I hope you find plenty to interest you and enjoy taking part in the Forum. It was nice to meet you at the AGM weekend Janet and I'm glad you found my pic of you levitating at Oliver Land in the album. Also, after the AGM I remembered you asked me to request whether there were any of members ther who'd travelled down alone, and I completely forgot - sorry about that - curse my ageing brain! Why is it that I can still remember the whole of Richard III's intro speech - 'Now is the winter of our discontent' etc, that I learnt at school over 50 years ago, but I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday?

Hi John - have just found your message of 4/4 again - still need to improve my p.c. skills! It was great to meet you, Mim, Gerald, Jennie, Patricia and others at the Memorial Weekend. No worries about forgetting my request - Kath and I just took a bracing walk around a not very exciting Penzance before deciding we didn't want an evening meal afterall - having so enjoyed the splendid FOMS buffet tea at The Queens. The card of your painting 'New Moon over Lamorna Cove' is now framed - I love it, also 'Foxgloves'. Janet

Hi Diane - a belated welcome too (I'm still trying to improve my p.c. skills - I did find your introductory message a while ago, then "lost" it and have found it again thanks to help from Sybille, another kind Forum member!) How did you find out about the Minack Chronicles? I'm always intrigued how this happens for readers who live in other countries. And do tell us a little about Tiger-Lily. Looking forward to hearing from you. Janet
