Well done, you made it onto the forum then! Hope you get as much fun out of it as we all do. It's a great way to keep in touch with old Minack friends and make new ones too. Don't be shy about posting your thoughts and feelings about all things Minack. I know the others will be glad to hear about your meetings with Derek.

Hi Janet,

.....you only need to post 170 items to catch up with these cool 'black cats'....... 8)

...us poor moderators cannot have anything but who we are......

Janet, the photo of Pauline, you and me on the seat is on page 1 of the album - think it's ID 86. Hope that helps you find it. It does like comical, as though we are sitting in mid air!!

Hi Kath, Linda and Gloria
At last I've worked out how to find your messages - thank you - although may never find them again due to still struggling to find my way around Forum and computer in general!!! I also found the photo, Kath. Thanks for telling me about it. Gloria - I just love your pussy cat. So cute! Wish I could walk to Oliver Land tomorrow again .... ah well, will have a glass of wine with supper and watch the DVD again. It (the DVD) is so enjoyable - I only met Derek in the 1990s and it is so good to see him as a much younger, happier man, together with Jennie.
Love to you all, Janet

Just email me, Janet, if you are having problems and I will try to guide you through them. You are not alone in wishing you were doing the walk to Oliverland again tomorrow - especially with the lovely weather forecast.

Hi Janet - my nearest 'Minack Fan' neighbour!! Keep posting and you'll soon get used to it all - it really is easy - believe me I can't do anything too complicated regarding computers.

Two questions - Firstly, please can someone explain the significance of the delightful cat pictures? I've been given a very elegant looking puss! I think Kath has her running black cat because of posting lots of messages?
Secondly, I submitted a comment some days ago under photo ID 87 'Gathering at Oliver Land' explaining that I'm not Joan Frost but me! Comment still doesn't appear, so wonder what happened? Obviously I still have lots to learn!
Hope you all enjoyed the sunshine today. Good weather for gardening. Have just begun reading Patricia's 'Bounty' book - its so lovely, a rare book to make me smile from page 1.
Best wishes, Janet

Hello Janet!

I have just joined myself, afraid I didn't get to hear about this site until recently so missed the memorial weekend and agm but hope to get there next year.

I just wanted to ask if your dvd is the same as a video I managed to get last year at the Lamorna pottery - Cottage on a cliff - an episode of look stranger from the 1970's I think. It is the nearest I have got to meeting Derek and Jeannie and is much treasured!

Look forward to chatting to you about Minack!

Hi Janet

Did you click on the Submit button after you had posted your comment underneath the picture at Oliver Land? That is what enters it onto the website. If not, just enter it again. It should appear straight away.

Am just going to get Elizabeth to help me post my pictures on to the album.

Hi Heather
Lovely to hear from you. The DVD I mentioned contains 'Cottage on the Cliff' plus a news item about the Auction plus bits from the 'Songs of Praise' programme Pam Rhodes made when she interviewed Derek a few years after Jeannie died. Jennie Murrish had it made because the tapes of 'Cottage on the Cliff' were wearing out. I bought the DVD (£21) from Jennie at the AGM. Looking forward to talking to you again!

Hi Janet,
I gave you the 'posh cat'...somehow it seemed to stand out at me when I was looking for one for you....everyone can choose their own picture to go next to their name....as you said you were a bit new to it all I chose one for you. You can change it anytime you like....
the balck cats running and Gloria's cat are gained when you have posted 170 and 250 items. They are automatically awarded at that point. Jeff and I spent an afternoon choosing some great cat and other pictures to use for these 'awards' ...it just makes it a bit more fun and interesting....

forgot to add the cat next to my name is my favourite boy 'Yogi who was with me for 17 years until he died in 2003. I made a promise to him to find him somewhere safe in the country and managed to achieve it just 18months before he died.

Hi Linda
Thank you for the "posh" cat - I'm quite happy with it. Lovely to see a picture of your much loved Yogi - I read about him in Wavelength. Until November 2005, I had my Sophie (tortoiseshell) for 21 years - about one third of my life! 18 months before then, I had adopted Tia (white with tortoiseshell blobs) from a neglectful home nearby. Tia is the most affectionate cat, so that helped, and we're very happy together!!!
Janet
P.S. I'm growing more confident with the Forum day by day!

Linda that picture of Yogi is truly gorgeous!

Janet I think I had better replace my tape with a copy of that dvd next time I am in Lamorna!

Heather - about the DVD, I think I remember Jennie Murrish saying that she only had a very small stock, so you might want to contact her sooner than your next visit to Lamorna. Jennie's address is on the front page of Wavelength.

Kath and Gloria - a belated thank you for your encouraging words and Kath's offer of help with finding my way round the Forum. I'm practicing every day (does that make me an addict?!) and feel a bit more confident now. Joan Frost and I have exchanged private emails (about that photo!) and I hope she will get to this part soon. Does Joan appear in any of the photos on the site? Loved Gloria's seagulls!

Gloria - a lovely idea (Hertfordshire coffee morning). There might be more of us, because on the Memberlist some locations are left blank..... let's hope others begin to post topics/replies soon.

I'm not too far away here in Essex!

Thanks for the info on the dvd Janet! I had better get in touch with Jennie sooner!

......I always hoped that one thing the website and forum would achieve is to enable people to meet up with one another....GREAT!

Sounds like a good idea, Gloria. Pity there aren't any members anywhere near me, I think the nearest are Pat & Vic Machin who we met at the AGM but they live in Ripley, the other end of Derbyshire, about 45 miles from me. In any case, with working full time, coffee mornings are out for me unfortunately - all together now - AAAAAAHHHH SHAME!! But hope yours gets off the ground.

Janet, glad you are getting more confident around the site now. Tried to chat to you in the chat room last night, but you seemed to disappear. Had good chat with Heather, Linda and Sybille though - it was fun.

Linda

Hi Janet,
They just come to be so much part of us don't they...like Derek said of Cherry and the Donkeys a repository for all the things you cannot tell others.....but they also know how we feel too....

Hope tyou get this coffee morning or soemthing sorted that really would be the pinnacle of the website achievements....(not just because I am saying it because of the website.... ....but it really would be tops!!)

:)

Kath - sorry about disappearing from the Chat Room. I did check in a couple of times, but didn't think anyone was there so quickly left! I will try again one evening - not tonight though, as I am going out.
