HI I'm Caroline!
HI everyone I'm Caroline, my letter was on the back page of the latest wavelength.
Thanks to all those who keep the Tangye memory going and it's great we can have discussions!
Am going to make a donation this March in memory of my cat Ray who you might have read about in my letter.. I have just found out my Bank will match it..
Could anyone give me the charity's full name. address and phone no? Would also need the UK registered charity number and Bank a/c no/sort code to pay the money into. Not sure if this is available publically but hopefully as then whatever I donate will be doubled.
Many thanks all!
Speak soon
Caroline :D

Hello Caroline!!

Welcome to the forum!

So pleased you are here...you will find everyone really friendly...its like we have all known each other for years and I suspect in a Minack spiritual sense we have....please dont hesitate to post items or photos, any problems just ask me or Jeff....

On the donation front were you thinking of the Minack Chronicles Trust, as they no longer accept donations. They ask that donations are sent to the charities that both Jeannie and Derek cared about.. The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Cornwall Wildlife Trust and the Mousehole Wild Bird Sanctuary. Check out the links page on the website and click on the icons there and it will take you straight to their web pages so you can see where to send donations to.

Really pleased to see you and look forward to chatting with you!

Kind Regards
Linda

Hello Caroline

Nice to meet you via the forum, look forward to getting to know and hear all about your Minack experiences and thoughts. As Linda says we are a friendly bunch and have a great time discussing all and sundry to do with Minack etc.

Seeing the reference to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust reminded me that they now own Looe Island or, more accurately St George's Island, Looe. It was left to them by the Atkins sisters who lived alone there for some years. One wrote two books about their life there - "Tales from Our Cornish Island" & "We Bought an island".

I have no doubt one or more of you ladies will have read them but if not they may appeal to you. Not as romantic as the Tangye books they never-the-less share the 'shoulders-to-the-wheel' practicalities of a pretty tough life.

Yes indeed, Dex, I have got both the books by Evelyn Atkins, they were a remarkable pair of ladies, Evelyn in particular was a real character.

I must look out for those books - something else to trawl e-bay for. By the way Dex my husband has enjoyed your book as well!!

You should find the books on amazon or in many Cornish bookshops.

Thank you Gloria for your comments. All authors appreciate hearing that their scribblings have achieved their objective of providing interest or better still enjoyment!

Gloria - just noticed one of the Looe Island books on ebay. Here's the link (no spaces of course):

No bids except the starting bid of £2.95.

thanks Dex - bidding had ended without the book being sold so I have e-mailed the seller to see if it will be re-listed or they are willing to sell it to me - don't know how I missed it as I had been looking and have bought the other book they wrote.
