Hi Nigel
welcome to this fantastic group of Chronicle (and all things Cornish) devotees. There are some fabulous people here and we hope to hear from each and everyone. Exchanging views and thoughts on the Chronicles keeps them and the people and creatures in them alive. So don't be shy - tell us how you came to read these wonderful books.

Hi Nigel
Welcome to the Forum - we hope you'll enjoy joining in; we've got quite a mixed community now from all over the place. You're actually from our neck of the woods though - although we've been coming to, and associated with Cornwall since the 1970s, we lived in Marden, Kent and left there to live permanently at our cottage here in Lamorna just a few years ago.
Looking forward to hearing from you
Regards
John & Mim Nash

Here's a snippet from his story...(I have posted it to Patricia for the next Wavelength)
I had made that all too familiar resolution - you know, where you promise to adhere to something throughout the next 12 months. My something was to read more………..
…. There is no logical explanation as to why I went directly to a particular book section…….All I could remember thinking was that I didn’t want to climb the stairs to my usual book section….my arm reached forward and pulled out a book. Why? This hard back had no significance for me…..Anyway why should a book carry such a title? And why especially should there be two donkeys on the front cover? I gazed bewildered. This was not for me. What possible pleasure could I get from reading this rubbish? So I never even bothered to open it…….
….unbeknown to me the Minack Effect had begun. …later at home no matter how I tried to do normal things that book ‘A Quiet Year’ played siege to my mind. All that day I could not forget it. It haunted my every thought. ....The following morning ………..
