I live in Gloucestershire with my husband and 2 cats Barny and Rupert, we both love all animals and wildlife. I was first introduced to Derek's books by some very good friends of ours who have a holiday cottage in St Ives, i was totally hooked after having read the first book, i could not read them fast enough. I was so enthralled by them that i did some research and contacted Anne Sutton who had been a very good friend of Derek's and was also a trustee of the Minack nature reserve at the time. She in turn contacted me and very kindly asked us to meet her and her Husband at the Wink in Lamorna, and walked with us to show us Dorminack and Oliver Land, pointing out Ambrose rock and all those really interesting parts featured in Derek's books. We had a truly memorable day with Anne and Malcolm, and i can honestly say that they are two of the nicest and kindest people we have ever met. They had so many stories to tell, and completely brought the books to life, we shall always be eternally grateful to them for that wonderful day we spent with them. We love this website, i am not at work at the moment as i am awaiting an operation which was due to happen today, but was cancelled again for the second time last night, so this is my window to the world at the moment. best wishes to you all out there,
Sue :D :D

Hi Sue, it's lovely to meet you. Your day at Minack sounds idyllic.

It's horrid when operations are cancelled at the last minute. I hope it happens soon for you (((((HUGS)))))

Hi Sue
Nice to hear from you.
Sorry to hear about your cancelled op. It's horrible when you build yourself up for something and then it is cancelled at the last minute. Hope you get it done soon and all is ok.
Meanwhile I'm sure this website will help to pass the time.

Best of luck

Kath

Hi Sue

Nice to meet you. Really sorry to hear about your cancelled operation. I'm fortunate enough not to have experienced these sort of problems, but our FOMS secretary, Gerald Murrish would certainly sympathise with you, as he's had endless trouble over the past couple of years with his health, cancelled ops, misdiagnoses etc. He does a great job for FOMS though - I'm sure that the role he plays with his wife Jenny for FOMS gives him as much pleasure and motivation as any therapy could. Jennie runs the 'FOMS Corner' at the Lamorna Pottery and is our main fund raiser by selling the books. Unfortunately they're not online, (although I think Jenny's working on Gerald!), so can't enjoy talking to people on the same Wavelength via this Forum.
If you are well again soon, and it's possible for you to get here in March for our Getogether & AGM, we'd love to see you as I'm sure everybody's really looking forward to meeting up with people they've been talking to via the Forum. Despite the rain last year, March can be such a wonderful month here, and nothing makes time stand still like the sight of Oliver Land in the Spring.
Best wishes
John
