Hi I'm Kath Mulligan, 58 years young and living in New Mills on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District with my husband and younger daughter. My elder daughter is married but also lives nearby in New Mills. I have lived in this area all my life and love the hills and the beauty of the Peak District scenery, but my heart yearns for Cornwall and I visit as often as I can (was in St Ives for a week in May and am off to Newquay with my daughters for another week on 11 November - can't wait) My family always laughs at me cos whenever we cross the county boundary into Cornwall I always heave a big contented sigh and say "Ah, I'm home again!"
I would love to retire down there, but have to be realistic and can't really see it happening. Doesn't stop me trawling through all the Cornish property websites though looking for my dream home!
As I have posted elsewhere I was lucky enough to meet Derek back in the eighties when we had a chat beneath the Cherry Tree, then went to see Merlin and Susie. Jeannie was ill at that time, although we did not know it then, so we did not get to meet her unfortunately.
I do not have any animals nowadays. For 16 and half years we had a beautiful tortoiseshell cat, Cindy, but unfortunately I am extremely allergic to pet fur, so when she died we made the decision not to have any more pets. Shame, but the ability to breathe is kind of necessary to my survival!!!
I am really enjoying this website, hearing from other Minack devotees, it's truly amazing how Derek's books have "spoken" to so many people all around the world. Well done, Linda, and thanks for setting this all up. Long may it continue.
Regards to all
Kath
