Discussions should, in essence, concern aspects appertaining to Derek and Jeannie Tangye, Oliver Land, and The Minack Chronicles. It will be acceptable to discuss how the books, meetings with Derek and Jeannie or visits to Oliver Land have changed, affected or impacted on your life.
As part of the forum the ability to feel trust and discuss personal matters is not exclusive as the forum has proved to be invaluable when people face particular difficulties or trying times. Members have helped others in a supportive role during these times and there is no wish to prevent this integral part of the forum. However, we must ask members to consider what personal matters they post, particularly those that concern detailed aspects of ailments, difficulties with employers, and such like. Whilst it is acceptable to discuss with others that you have been ill, had a particular problem the forum must not be dominated by such discussions which also have the affect of putting off other users who wish to chat. Anyone who is not sure of a subject matter can of course contact the adminstrator/moderators for guidance or use the personal messaging system to discuss such matters on a more private basis. It is not our wish to prevent discussions rather than ensure everyone feels comfortable on the forum. In this resepct the moderators and administrators views are final and any discussion that is perceived to be causing distress, is discourteous or simply seems to be making others feel uncomfortable will have their posts edited or deleted and will be informed via personal message.
In regard to the latter point about everyone feeling comfortable on the forum we must make it clear that if anyone is upset or feels affronted they should contact the administrator or moderator about their concerns. The forum has built a reputation for trust and this trust must be maintained amonst all the members.
Please do not feel 'restricted in your discussions' by these 'rules' ~ we are here because of the books after all. It is simply to try and ensure that the forum remains in tune with the website and the Minack Chronicles.
This forum is for the use of anyone who is interested in The Minack Chronicles, Cornwall, nature, environment, literature etc. Whilst the forum operates under the umbrella of Friends of Minack Society it is for use by all perons wishing to discuss these topics and thus to prevent non-Society members from feeling intimidated in their ability to have discussions with otherforum members. Thus all members should show due courtesy and respect the rights of others not to be a society member. We welcome all who are genuinely interested in the subject and wish the discussion forum to be inclusive of all fans/readers of The Minack Chronicles, whether they are society members or not.
This website and forum are not a commercial or sales enterprise they are simply for fans/readers and society members to enjoy reading about The Minack Chronicles, making friends with other likeminded people and generally chatting about the things that interest them and each other.
No inflammatory statements or use of foul language will be tolerated.
It will be the decision of the moderator to allow statements on this site. Any statement that is deemed unacceptable will be blocked by the moderators and you will be notified of this and the reason via a private message. Prior to this user infractions will be operated in similar fashion to yellow cards and red cards and no message will be sent.
Please take a moment to include details about yourself in your profile as a courtesy to other members. You do not need to include AIM/ICQ addresses. Indeed we would recommend you did not to prevent spam bots locating you.
You must not include in any post your email address, unless in the format described, or personal details such as telephone number and so on. Email addresses are listed in the following format to reduce the risk of collection by BOTS. Acceptable format for email addresses are: jane dot smith at web dot co dot uk = jane.smith@web.co.uk

The discussion forum, FOMS website, Moderator or Society cannot be held responsible for any errors or omissions, losses or otherwise appertaining to the use of this website and/or forum nor to any postings or emails sent or received to any user of this website or forum.
